Recipe from A Taste of Australia
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 4 burger buns
- 4 bacon slices
- 4 cheddar slices
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 large eggs
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 4 pickled beet slices
Instructions
- 1
Fry the bacon in a small skillet until crisp. Drain the bacon on a plate lined with paper towel and set aside.
- 2
Preheat the grill.
- 3
Mix the ground beef with some salt and pepper in a large mixing bowl. Shape it into 4 patties.
- 4
Grill them for 4-6 minutes on one side or until done to your liking. Flip the burgers and add the cheese on top so it melts. Continue to cook them until they’re done to your liking.
- 5
Toast the buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes or until slightly golden-brown.
- 6
Heat oil in a large skillet. Add the eggs and fry them sunny side up for 2-4 minutes.
- 7
Spread the mayo on the inside of the buns. Top the bottom bun with the burger patties.
- 8
Add the lettuce, tomato, fried eggs, and beet slices in the order you prefer.
- 9
Serve the burgers immediately.
